Lenovo showcased its innovative Mechanical Energy Harvesting Keyboard and Mouse Combo at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. The proof-of-concept devices utilize mechanical movement and solar irradiation for power, eliminating the need for traditional external charging.

The 68-key keyboard features RGB lighting, wireless connectivity, and a solar panel on the topside for charging under bright lighting conditions. It includes a large circular dial that can be spun to transform kinetic energy into battery charge, providing approximately 30 minutes of usage with five minutes of spinning. The keyboard also supports wired connection through a USB Type-C port.

The mouse in the concept combo has a ring-shaped crank at the bottom, which can be pulled up and wound to provide charge to the device's battery. One minute of winding reportedly offers about 30 minutes of charge. The mechanical energy keyboard and mouse support both Bluetooth and 2.4G wireless connections.

As proof-of-concept devices, there is no confirmation of their market availability. Alongside this concept, Lenovo announced its new lineup of ThinkBook laptops, ThinkCentre desktops, accessories, and AI PC enhancements at CES 2024, including the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4 laptop with a dedicated Microsoft Copilot key and the Lenovo Tab M11 tablet.
